Campaign Outreach
The #IamFCPS team and community of advocates is speaking up to elected officials and urging them to fully fund our schools. Here’s a summary of activities:
- To the County Board of Supervisors – On December 8, 2015, the #IamFCPS team and FCPS supporters spoke before the County Board of Supervisors (at 3:51:00 in the link), with a crowd of parent supporters representing 20 schools in the audience.
- To the School Board and the community! #IamFCPS hosted a Rally for the Budget on January 7 just before Superintendent Garza presented her proposed budget to the school board. With a crowd of hundreds, we supported a budget of no more cuts. Our efforts earned media coverage on four major news networks and radio.
- To the State Delegates and Senators representing Fairfax. On January 9, the #IamFCPS team joined dozens of other education organizations and individuals delivering public comments to elected officials before they went to Richmond to begin the state’s legislative session. As a result, lawmakers heard clearly that funding education is the hot topic for this General Session.
